Getting
to Know the Teacher
The Pui Ying Art School, founded by Ma Ying Li in
2000, is designed to have her students express themselves with traditional and modern
art drawings, watercolors, Chinese
paintings, cartoons, oil
paintings, pastels, still life and leaf art. Ms Li began her
teaching career in 1989 in China as an instructor for coloring and designing gifts. These experiences helped her
develop the best ways to communicate art concepts. She has mastered the
'art' of communicating with all ages -- children and adults -- to help her
students learn quickly. Her students not only learn quickly, but learn
very well how to communicate through art. They learn so well, that each year
since 2002, her students are among the top winners in art contests around the
country.
Ms Li's students learn to produce art because she challenges them with producing
excellent, creative work for art exhibits, making them, believe in themselves.
The high caliber of work that her students produce has caught the eye of many.
Pui Ying Art
School students have been asked to participate in a variety of theme
exhibits at the Chicago Children's' Museum at Navy Pier. Also, their
endearing art pieces have been featured at art exhibits at the Chinatown Public Library and the Chinatown Summer Fair.
Not only does Ms. Li teach art, but she also
continues to enjoy creating her own artwork. Her oil painting, "Sail", has been of interest to quite a few
collectors.
